Christopher spent a blissful week at Camp Carlquist earlier this summer. This was his final year to be at Camp Carlquist -- next year he'll be at Camp Gorsuch with the Boy Scouts rather than with the Cubs. He came home extremely stinky and extremely tired -- but also extremely happy. I don't know if I've ever seen him so tired. The combination of having just returned from California and then heading straight out to camp made for a tired child. He also didn't take his asthma meds while out there and so he was having a lot of trouble breathing -- that takes a lot of energy out of a kid. The kids had such a great time, in fact, that one of the boys became quite verklemt as they were leaving the campground. He was waxing nostalgic over all the great memories at cub scout camp and feeling terribly sad about saying good-bye. That is a good sign that the camp has been a good experience over several years for these kiddoes.

In this photo, Greg is pinning Christopher with his faith badge -- he worked very hard on it this spring. It's one of the highest honor badges that you can earn as a scout. It included classes akin to a confirmation class but more generalized to the Christian faith rather than including anything specific about a denomination.
