We later headed down to Poipu to stay at what is undoubtedly the nicest place I've ever stayed. Again, leave it to Greg to make sure we're living in style. He finagled a way to stay in a suite at the Grand Hyatt for 6 nights without having to ransom our children. The place had luxury all over it -- including the 45000 sqft spa with the lava rock grotto showers and several acres of pools, including a lazy river, a giant waterslide, and a saltwater lagoon where you can rent kayaks. The resort had daily mini-classes that you could enjoy for free. Cate took a hula lesson. Christopher figured out a bit of ukelele. There were daily bird talks with the exotic birds who lived on the property, and craft sessions with Hawaiian Natives, including Lei-making. I had an amazing time with a free scuba lesson in the lagoon -- it was enough to get us spending a lot of time trying to figure out childcare so that Greg and I could go do a beach dive (you don't have to be certified for the beach dives -- it's more like snorkeling but on steroids). Unfortunately, we could never get childcare to match up with the outings available.
