Today was Cate's school Halloween party. They have regular school but set aside the last 30 minutes for a party. Every year, the party is different, with a parent committee planning it each year to meet their vision. It's always a fun, festive way for the kids to play and have fun. And I love seeing 18 3-year olds dressed up in their imaginative finest. This year, they started with a craft -- decorating their own trick-or-treat bag. Then, they had a special snack and headed upstairs for trick-or-treating to different booths and playing different games. The booths had a wide variety of treats, including non-food items, which was appreciated. They will undoubtedly have access to plenty of sugar today in other venues.
We had been planning that Cate would dress up like Snow White -- she's been telling me for months that that is what she wanted to be. She already had a Snow White dress, and we made the red bow for her head -- she was set. This morning, though, she woke up and decided she would be a ballerina instead. We have a hand-me down leotard from friend Abigail, and a beautiful ballerina skirt that we bought last Christmas with money sent from Grandma Bennie. Voila -- a ballerina is born.
