Many schools in Anchorage have their own little salmon hatcheries in the school hallways. They provide an opportunity for kids to watch the changes of salmon eggs, how long they gestate, and the cycles of the eggs as they take steps into becoming adult salmon.
It's been a long fall/winter of watching eggs that don't change much. This week, they popped out of their eggs into alevin. It causes great excitement in the school hallways.
Even Cate has enjoyed checking the status of the eggs daily. My favorite question from her today as she saw the eggs had hatched -- "Mommy, do they need car seats now?"
Tomorrow is move day. Saturday is a painting party at the old house, plus a guy from Craigslist coming to install vinyl flooring in the downstairs bathroom and kitchen for a very good price. Monday is a contractor showing up the old house to paint trim, doors, window trim, downstairs bathtub, and kitchen counters. This house is going to sparkle, and hopefully will attract a multitude of buyers.
