Planet Earth

Last night Greg taped a program on the Discovery HD channel that made me realize why we have a high definition television. It is, in all likelihood, the most amazing television show I've ever seen.

It's called "Planet Earth" and it is a 5 part series, with each hour long section highlighting a different part of our planet, including "Mountains," "Grasslands," Oceans," "Deserts" and more. It's one of those shows where you say "How do they do that?" and by that question you mean not only how did they capture that on film, but how amazing is our world? The lazies have overtaken me today, but I haven't even felt too guilty about it, sharing some of the wonder with my kids at watching a mother panda nurse her tiny panda cub in the back of a cave, or watching baboons run down a steep cliff to ward off the coming wolf. How did they capture that mother grizzly and her cubs coming out of their winter den, or that great white shark jump out of the ocean and pounce on its prey? If it sounds like any ordinary television documentary, I have missed the point of this post. It's incredible, especially in high definition.

If you have a high def television, and get HD Discovery channel, tape this show!!
