I can see Christopher forming the idea of the "perfect woman" in his head already. He has had a bit of a crush on a girl at school since last year. She is a sweet girl, with flowing dark locks, and a dad who is one of the stars of the "Aces" hockey team here in town. He has been known to say things to Cate like, "Cate, I think you should grow your hair like Alexis does."

He's inviting only a few kids to swim at H2Oasis for his birthday tomorrow -- it was very difficult to pick only a few kids when he has so many buddies he likes, and Alexis made the cut. He really wanted her to come. When I asked why he talked about the kindness she had shown him last year when she helped teach him how to skate on the school's ice rink. She has a girl scout event that will make her unable to come, however.

Today, Alexis brought him a present for his birthday, even though she can't make his party. Inside were 4 free tickets to an Aces game. My boy is over the moon. You can see it in his face -- she's sweet, cute, kind -- and she gives hockey presents! What else could a boy ask for?
