Take a look at the Serifos IV. This was our home away from home and a truly amazing way to travel. We got to visit so many "off the beaten track" places as a result of being on a sailboat. It was a shockingly relaxing way to travel. The journey was part of the fun -- something I'm sure would not have been the case if we had been taking ferries everywhere. The one day we had to ferry from Paros to Crete solidified this in my mind. It was the one rainy day we encountered and we were moving all of our gear and waiting in lines to get onto the ferry. It made us appreciate the boat pretty quickly.

We tended to get into a rhythm of sailing in the morning and arriving in port right after lunch to explore. We would then find a taverna to eat dinner in before retiring to the boat. These photos show the amazing little taverna we ate in at Piso Livadi on Paros. It was an untouristy port and we enjoyed being the only English speakers we could hear. There was a very cute beach with a nice playground right next to the taverna so the kids could run off and play within our sight while we sat and waited for our food. Christopher ordered the "FISH OF THE DAY" and about 10 minutes later, a truck pulled up with the tray of fish. Christopher got his photo with his meal. Talk about fresh!

The photo of the man beating something on the staircase was the following morning. Greg found this man beating octopus on the staircase. Our captain, Georgos, later told us that this was the traditional way to soften it up before cooking. How cool is that?
