Whew! A break from Greece posts!

We're definitely back into the swing of "regular life" here. We have found ourselves busy with soccer (three nights a week -- sometimes more if they call "bonus" practice), guitar lessons (first "concert" today at 11:00), and getting into my new work project with a full day meeting yesterday and figuring out how that work will flow this summer.

We're also in the midst of a construction project as we are getting our wood floors installed from the flood we had back in May. It will be GREAT to have the house back in working order. I'm the worst interior designer and have great difficulty choosing paint colors and floor choices. But I must say, we did good this time around. The flooring is absolutely gorgeous. Our carpenter contractor told me that maple (our flooring choice) and cherry (the kitchen cabinets) are the all-American combination of woods, much like peanut butter and jelly -- they just go together. They have similar grains that complement each other, and the colors tend to do each other justice. Who knew? I'm so glad we seemed to come up with a good choice. I must say that the real wood (compared to the laminate in the rest of the house) is really nice. I hope that it will not scratch too much and will wear well. Certainly new it looks like a million bucks.

We've also been busy trying to find books that the kids will like for independent reading. Right now, they would both rather spend all of their reading time with me reading "Order of the Phoenix." Certainly the 3 nights per week soccer has infringed on our normal nightly reading routine. Christopher is reading "Mysterious Benedict Society" and Cate is trying some Pony Pals books. At our last outing to the library we were happy to find a leaflet on good beginning chapter books which opened up some new options beyond Magic Tree House and the Daisy Meadows fairy books. We are definitely taking recommendations!
