When I was in high school, I took a typing course. The purpose was to get to know the keyboard in the right way so that I'd be able to type my own college papers. Who knew keyboarding with computers would make the need to type even more important...anyways, when I first took that typing course, I remember mentally tapping where each of the letters were in sentences I would say. My mind was finding every possible way to practice this new skill so that I would master it.
Christopher is that way with spelling right now. He doesn't say "Hi mom, how are you" these days, he says "H-I M-O-M! H-O-W A-R-E Y-O-U?" It's not constant -- but it's getting close. He'll ask for a "S-N-A-K" instad of a "snack." His mind is taking every possible chance to master his emerging skill.
