Cate started back to ballet lessons today. We got a call from her teacher over the break suggesting that Cate join a new class of intermediate dancers. It's supposed be for 1st-2nd graders, but she thought Cate could handle it. She considered both Cate's skill level as well as her maturity and ability to hang with the older girls. What a nice compliment for my little ballerina.

The change means she has a class filled with new girls as well as a new teacher. Cate doesn't like change, so she had some trepidation going in, but she did great today. Isn't her teacher exquisite looking? She's got to be one of the more beautiful and graceful people I've ever seen. It's a fairly big leap from the K-1 beginner class, which was heavy on the ballet skipping and movement. The new class has a bigger focus on learning the ballet positions, balance, and some new leaping exercises. The good news? Cate loved the new class, did fairly well for her first day with the new skill set, and already made a new friend :-)
