Ok -- this is a minor brag post. Today we spent our first day of Spring Break at the Downtown Soup Kitchen. It was great to see so many people we know there -- some volunteers we hadn't seen in a while, a neighbor that we didn't know was involved with the organization, another family that the kids have served with previously. It is a bit like a little family down there.

Anyways, my brag is just looking at my son on Soup Kitchen days. He has been known to be a bit moody at times. He can get grumpy and say things that drive me crazy like "why do I have to clean my room?" and "I don't WANT to do homework." It can drive a mother crazy on some days. It's something he works on. But he is NEVER grumpy on Soup Kitchen days. It brings out the very best in him. He shines and he gives and he leaves wanting to be nice to everybody in his path. There is never any grumpiness -- rather he leaves in a good mood and talking about what an awesome day it has been. Awesome.
