Today was the big culmination event of Christopher's class Egyptian studies theme. The 3 classes of 3rd/4th combined grades performed "Temples and Tombs." They sang songs about Pharaohs and King Tut and all things Egyptian. They dressed in Egyptian costumes (thanks Grandma Polly!). It was a very fun day for Christopher, who was very happy to be healthy enough to return to class so as not to miss it.
It's amazing that even now in 3rd grade, there is just so much to make up when you're absent for 2 days. It's making me wonder about our decision to take a 2 week vacation to Hawaii next year around Thanksgiving. It didn't help that Christopher's strep throat occurred just as they were starting the practice exams for State testing, which is next week. Chugach doesn't do practice exams all the time or "teach to the test" but they do take these practice exams seriously. So, he's had a lot of time catching up with the math, reading, and writing practice exams. He'll do fine as long as he reads the instructions carefully.
