Christopher can be a bit prescient at times. Last night we turned on the evening news -- a rarity around here since the kids can be easily entranced by the views of exploding car bombs and such. I picked a doozy of a night to change the policy -- we had a very large fire in Anchorage last night that demolished a downtown condomonium complex. The news reporter warned people as he stood in front of the blazing building, "stay away from downtown -- this is not somewhere you want to be right now." Christopher astutely noted, "well, then why is HE down there, mommy?" Apparently he had been thinking about this all night, because this morning he asked, "why do they always just show the bad things on the news and in the newspaper, mom....the car accidents and fires and wars and stuff....they should show the good stuff sometimes." Indeed!
