Man oh man...have we been busy! My dad and his friend John arrived on Tuesday evening. That was the same day that Ellianna, my niece was admitted to the hospital for abdominal pain. We helped out by taking the baby, Elijah for a day and night so that Matt & Brooke could devote their attention to Ellianna. We definately maxed out the new house -- just about every room that had a door that could close was filled up with somebody. Luckily, Ellianna was only kept overnight with enough time to solve the acute issue. Now they have to figure out the cause.

Yesterday, we took Elijah with us on a day trip to Portage and Whittier. A highlight was seeing Papa Vieten helping Christopher try to catch a fish. If Papa ever wanted a grandchild with a passion for fishing, he got one. Chrisotpher loves it with his whole heart. The only problem? Christopher really wants to CATCH a fish, not just enjoy the process. Today, in a complete embarasment, he made a bratty comment to Papa that he doesn't know how to catch fish because they've now tried twice in two different ponds without catching anything. My 6 year old really thinks he's got the world figured out -- a little humility could go a long way for him. I could have died in embarrassment.
Finally, the summer has arrived and we've been able to enjoy our sightseeing with some nice weather. Yippee!!!

Poor Papa. I'm married to a serial fisherman who needs to "learn" that catching is part of the game. In all our married lives, Roland has caught very few fish. Hopefully for my kids, it's not an inherited trait. :)
