Summer's Last Hurrah!
Well, this is it -- summer's last hurrah! Good thing the kids got in that final sunny day with the slip and slide at Matt and Brooke's house last week.
There's a fall nip in the air in the mornings and the flowers in my garden are losing their bloom. Tomorrow is the official start of school within the Anchorage School District -- the first day of First Grade! We met Christopher's teacher again last night at a schoolwide back-to-school picnic. She had a homework assignment ready to pass out to kids who were there -- a "Me Bag" where each child puts 5 things that will provide clues as to who the bag belongs to. It will serve as a first day "get to know you" activity. Christopher chose to include a baby picture, a Star Wars figure (yes, he's obsessed), a leaf (indicating his love of the outdoors), a little jar of pure gold (he's somewhat obsessed with gold mining these days, too), and a picture he drew of an ice-skate. Interesting to see how he chose to identify himself.
